Welcome to my house Varanoids lovers !!! Let me introduce myself. My name is Jean-Michel. I’m a 47 years old lizard… oops !!! frenchman & I share this house with my dutch wife Jolanda, my son Drake & all the cold blooded brothers & sisters monitor lizards. Since I was a kid I have always been attracted by all kind of animals & especially Lizards, the little fellas crawling between the rocks on the beaches of my mediterranean hometown in South of France : Toulon.
The years passed by & I left France to make a living & raised a family in The Netherlands in the city of Deventer. I spent the last 16 years enjoying the company of monitor lizards, sharing my everyday life with the specie Varanus Albigularis : a group of fourteen lizards (twelve Blackthroats & two Whitethroats) together with the specie Varanus Salvator : two unrelated specimens. The lizards used to roam free in our house but since the family expanded with the birth of our son Drake & seven little black throated monitors, I decided to give them the large attic as their new living quarter… I hope you will enjoy the pictures… I will try to find the time to update this site with more pictures (past trips in Indonesia: Komodo Island the home of the lizard king & Africa…)

If you ever told me I’d one day own a lizard.. I’d have said your crazy.. Funny what we do for our kids. My 6 year old LOVES all of Gods creatures and well.. Guess who needs to learn a LOT about Lizards..
Funny thing is.. I’ve always loved WIZARDS and well - My kid and I now have something to ADD to all that.. (just fits) And I’m digging it.
I own a site called XFilespoker.com (Free) I offer advice for poker players - on how to play with skills (lose less, win more) and how to play poker with BALANCE.. (Keeping it a game, family first. - FUN!) The sites theme is ALIEN (Think XFiles) So we named our new family member (our Lizard)- “ACE” Frehley (Guitar player from KISS rock band) The band KISS was my fave as a kid…also my 6 year old girls.. (How cool is that)
Ace is now a working member of the family - MASCOT for Xfilespoker.com (we had a fun 30 hours using TWITTER (@Xfilespoker) to help us choose name, one tweeter suggested “Gene Simmons” but Ace was my fave..)SO - that was a LOCK!
We all love the name and this silly lizard.. (Telling you - never seen any of this coming!) My wife is a little scared - but she also hated my Doberman Pincher on day one too - (I think she loves that my girl loves the lizard)
Oh! Dogs do not even CARE? Why? Can they smell it? See it? My daughter thinks it cuzz they meld in with the bark and wood.
So - Ace is in a 80 gal tank and NOT moving all that much 84 degrees on wood stump - (Home 2 days) Due to eat for first time in two days.. I have so much to learn - but - I love him already.. and my kid. Well - she loves all the creatures! (Smile from ear to ear holding Ace)
